2014 Acura MDX at the 2013 New York Auto Show
With break-dancing hamsters on the scene, Kia revealed its newly redesigned 2014 Soul at this year’s New York International Auto Show.

One of Kia’s top-selling models, the Soul is all-new with a restyled bumper and front end, and neat, flush taillights that look like they’re borrowed from the Track’ster Concept that bowed at last year’s 2012 Chicago Auto Show. Overall vehicle length and width have grown, while interior cabin space and cargo volume are also up a notch. The new 2014 Soul becomes Kia’s first model to offer an Android-based UVO multimedia system, which complements an 8-inch touch-screen display.

BMW plans to offer a six-cylinder diesel engine in its 5 Series midsize luxury sedan in the second half of 2013. The debut joins a new diesel engine option for the 3 Series. Dubbed 328d, the compact luxury car uses a turbo four-cylinder diesel engine. Ludwig Willisch, president and CEO of BMW of North America, said the numerical designation for the 5 Series diesel hasn’t been decided on yet.

The last time BMW offered a six-cylinder diesel in one of its U.S. passenger cars was the 335d, sold from the 2009 to 2011 model years. Rated at 265 horsepower, the turbocharged diesel engine developed a commanding 425 pounds-feet of torque for impressive off-the-line performance. Six-cylinder diesel versions of the 5 Series already available in Europe offer similar levels of torque.

After years on the margins in the passenger-car segment, diesels are on the upswing in the U.S., and the gains are most apparent in the luxury segment. Audi plans to sell diesel versions of nearly all its passenger cars; BMW hasn’t made that big of a commitment to the U.S. market, but canada goose boutique montreal for sale appears willing to test the waters a little more.

They say it’s what’s inside that counts — but we all know no self-improvement kick is complete without an image makeover to go with it. And so canada goose boutique montreal for sale goes with the 2014 Toyota Highlander, which the automaker has dutifully spruced up, inside and out. Exterior updates include a lower, more aerodynamic roofline; longer, wider body; and larger rear quarter windows and repositioned front A-pillars, both of which improve visibility.

Inside are overdue interior upgrades like a soft-touch instrument panel and noise-reducing acoustic glass. That’s in addition to a reported 34% cargo-space boost, as well as seating for an eighth passenger thanks to a wider third row. Check out the gallery below. photos by Evan Sears.

The sedan and hatchback versions of Kia’s compact Forte were redesigned for 2014; a new coupe, or Koup in Kia lingo, also joins the roster this year. The new Forte Koup mirrors its siblings’ newfound flashy styling, fitting right into the lineup.

Base EX and sporty SX models are available. The EX uses a 173-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder; uplevel SX versions get a little more oomph from a 201-hp, turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder. Check out the gallery below. photos by Evan Sears.

It may not look like a radical departure from the current MDX, but the 2014 version is entirely new. It has a new chassis, engine, interior, features and improved mileage.

Typically, you wouldn’t look under the hood of a crossover first, but the new 3.5-liter V-6 is noteworthy. The direct-injected V-6 also sports cylinder deactivation that helps with fuel economy. Acura says the EPA rating for all-wheel-drive models — still called Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, or SH-AWD — is 18/27 mpg city/highway and 21 mpg combined. That’s a 16% improvement over the combined rating of the 2013 MDX, which is only available with SH-AWD.

Front-wheel-drive versions of the 2014 are rated at 20/28 mpg city/highway and 23 mpg combined. That combined rating is roughly 10% better than Infiniti’s front-wheel-drive JX35 — soon to be renamed QX60.

Power is down, though, from 300 horsepower in the outgoing 3.7-liter to 290 hp in the 3.5-liter. Torque is rated at 267 pounds-feet. Despite the lower numbers, the 2014 MDX is faster thanks to its shedding an impressive 275 pounds compared to the outgoing 2013.

There are plenty of significant changes under the all-new Golf’s sheet metal, including new powertrains that get 8% to 15% better fuel economy, but you wouldn’t know canada goose boutique montreal for sale from the conservative exterior styling. VW fans will be able to spot the new subtle creases and lighting details, but they’ll go unnoticed by most people. It might not be the flashiest hatchback in the segment, but if VW’s history is anything to go by, it won’t look dated anytime soon, either.

The performance-oriented GTI shares the Golf’s new platform but gets slightly more aggressive styling. Many of the design cues, like the honeycomb grille and front air dam strakes, mirror those of the current GTI. The grille’s red accent line now carries through the headlights, which is a nice touch, and there’s a new badge on the front fenders.

The words “electric vehicle” usually aren’t synonymous with luxury. Mercedes-Benz is aiming to change that with the 2014 B-Class Electric Drive. No, this isn’t a concept; the brand’s first electric car will go on sale in early 2014 and have an estimated driving range of 115 miles.

The car might look a little familiar: A non-electric version of the B-Class has been on sale globally for years; model-year 2014 marks the first time it’s being offered in the States. A conventionally powered version won’t be available in the U.S., however.
